What Cleveland Park Is
Cleveland Park is the green space that sits beside Cleveland Dam at the top of Capilano River Regional Park in North Vancouver. Most people stop for the dam walk and head straight back to the car. The park is the slower side of the same stop: open lawn, shaded paths and a clear line of sight to the peaks above the North Shore.
If you want the story of the dam, the spillway and the reservoir, our Cleveland Dam guide covers it. This page is about the park itself and how to use it.
The View Toward The Lions
The main reason to linger is the mountain backdrop. On a clear day the twin peaks known as The Lions frame the skyline, and the lawn gives you room to take it in without the crowd you find at busier viewpoints. Morning light is usually the calmest for photos, and wet or foggy days give the trees and ridgelines a softer look.
Picnics and a Break Between Hikes
The lawn works well for a packed lunch, a snack stop with kids, or a rest before or after a longer walk into the regional park. Facilities such as washrooms, picnic tables and drinking water have been reported near the dam parking lot, but availability can change by season, so check the official Metro Vancouver page before you go.
How to Get to Cleveland Park
Drive up Capilano Road in North Vancouver, past the turnoff for the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and park in the lot at Cleveland Dam. The park is a short walk from the lot, and the route continues toward Grouse Mountain. Public transit options can change, so use a current trip planner for the latest routes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cleveland Park the same as Cleveland Dam?
They are neighbours. Cleveland Dam is the concrete dam and spillway holding back Capilano Lake, while Cleveland Park is the green space beside it. Most visitors see both in one stop.
Is Cleveland Park free to visit?
Yes, there is no admission charge to visit the park. Check the official Metro Vancouver Regional Parks page for current access notices and parking details.
Can you swim in Capilano Lake from Cleveland Park?
No. Capilano Lake is an active drinking water source for the region, and the shoreline is closed to the public. You can view the lake from the dam area only.
Is Cleveland Park good for a picnic with kids?
Yes. The open lawn gives families space to spread out, and the dam walk is flat and short. Bring your own food and water, and confirm current facilities on the official park page.
What else can you do near Cleveland Park?
Walk across Cleveland Dam, follow the trails down to the Capilano River Hatchery, or visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge a few minutes away by car.
